1 Spoon....................................................... Code ...................................0698
REAGENTS
1 ML ACID REAGENT.................................... Code................................... 0808
1 ML INDICATOR............................................ Code.................................. 0505
1 ML TITRATOR REAGENT ..........................Code................................... 0606
PROCEDURE
1. Fill the Test tube to the 5ml. graduation mark with the water to be tested.
2. Add one spoonful of Nitrite Reagent No.1 to the measured sample.
Insert the Test Tube Cap and shake the mixture until the powder has dissolved.
3. The Titrator is filled with Nitrite Reagent No.2 to the 'Zero' mark.
Insert the Titrator in the centre hole of the Test Tube Cap.
4. The Nitrite Reagent No.2 is added drop by drop, shaking gently, until a pink colour Remains in the
test mixture for 30 seconds. The result of the test is read from the scale on the side of the Titrator.
5. Result is obtained in p.p.m. Nitrite by multiplying the Titrator reading by one hundred. · Rocor NB test is based on the oxydation of sodium nitrite by potassium permanganate.
This reaction only takes place in an acid environment - created by adding Reagent No.1.
Normally one spoon is sufficient. In case acid environment is not achieved the first drop of Reagent No.2 will result in a
coloration of the water sample, suggesting the test is terminated, resulting in a zero reading
for Nitrite content. In case of doubt check pH of water sample with paper. pH should be below
3. If higher add extra Reagent No.1 and proceed with test as usual.
