SLUDGE BREAKER

 

Rochem Sludge Breaker has been developed to meet the requirements for a highly active liquid product which rapidly dissolves and fluidizes sludge, wax, gum and tar formations while effectively separating water from oil/water emulsions.

 

USAGE

 

Rochem Sludge Breaker can be used confidently in crude oil cargo and storage systems, fuel oil tanks and systems and various refinery processes. When used as a heavy duty fuel conditioner. Rochem Sludge Breaker acts throughout the fuel system (from double bottom to exhaust) reducing maintenance costs and boiler down time while giving greater fuel efficiency.

4. Rochem Sludge Breaker used as a fuel conditioner reduces surface tension of the fuel allowing for proper atomisation at the burner. This gives greater BTU release per kilo of fuel.

 

TECHNICAL REVIEW

 

Unstable residues in crude oil and fuel oils settle out in storage or in piping systems in various wax and gum formations. Additionally, some residue polymerize trapping water, thus forming stable emulsions. These residues and emulsions reduce effective tank capacity and often times foul cargo piping and fuel oil systems. Furthermore, sodium trapped in the emulsions can be carried over through combustion increasing the hard sodium vanadium deposits on the boiler and super heater surfaces.

Rochem Sludge Breaker attacks these various residues and emulsions liquefies them, and disperses them through out the cargo or fuel. When the emulsion is broken up the entrained water separates to the bottom of the tank for easy removal. At the same time Rochem Sludge Breaker reduces the surface and interfacial tension of the crude or fuel oil thus stabilizing in in storage and preventing reformation of the sludge.

 

APPLICATION

 

Rochem Sludge Breaker is applied directly to the tanks requiring treatment. Heating tank contents and Sludge Breaker to 60 C with agitation or circulation produces even better results. When used as a heavy duty fuel conditioner apply to tanks before bunkering normally down the sounding pipe.

 

DOSAGE

 

Dosage varies from 1 litre per 1 ton to 8 tons depending on the type of sludge, viscosity and amount of water contamination. Check with your Rochem Service Engineer if in doubt.
